Years ago, I received a most creative and unique Valentine’s gift. Ten cassette tapes (remember those?) filled with music and marked A-R. The only instruction was to listen to all the tapes and in alphabetical order. Oh, my goodness, that’s a lot of time and music. But I followed the instructions. The very first song was “Listen to the Music.” As I listened to the songs, I realized there was a theme. The further along in the process, the more and more personal the music became. It took me about six weeks to listen to the entire set. It was tax season, the busiest time of year for me. The final two songs were “I Will Always Love You,” and “Can I Have This Dance for the Rest of My Life?” My sweet, shy husband was proposing. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I accepted, and we spent 31 years together.

God proposes to us throughout scripture. From Genesis to Revelation, God speaks of his eternal love for us. He declares his plans and ultimately gives his only son, Jesus, for us. He says listen to my music, my voice. Listen as I tell of my love for you through scripture and creation. Please spend the rest of your life, including eternity, with ME, the Creator of the universe.
What an amazing invitation! Will you listen to God and accept His proposal? I hope so. Jesus gave his life so that you and I could spend eternity with Him.
May your life and heart be filled with the love of Jesus.
Blessings,
