What Delights You?

Delight is one of those words that fits its definition. I love saying the word, Delightful! To “delight,” says Webster’s Dictionary, is to “take pleasure” or “to give keen enjoyment” in something or someone.

One of my delights is the unabashed joy of children playing. They run, giggle, and never worry about how they look or sound. Without hesitation, they savor the moment. Jesus said, “Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:2 He asks us to come to Him with the innocence and trust of a child. He is not asking us to be childish but childlike. Come without reservation, without thought, with abandonment into His presence. Soak up His love as a child soaks up the rain as it pours over them.

God Delights in His Children

Not only does our Heavenly Father ask us to delight in Him, but He delights in us! Isn’t this incredible? The creator of the universe delights in us. We are His creation, His little children, and He takes delight in us. What amazing love!

Join me this month in delighting in the Lord. Lift your heart and soak in the blessings of being a child of the King, a child that can reach up toward heaven and say, “Abba, Father. Daddy, thank you for loving me just as I am.”

Blessings,

Personal Parables Practices

  • Will you find delight today in the love of Jesus?
  • How can I encourage others to delight in being a child of God?
  • Ask yourself: is there an area of my life I need to let go of in order to experience childlike faith in Jesus?

Prayer: Will You Pray With Me?

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my Father who loves me tenderly and unconditionally.  Help me to delight in your presence with abandonment and faith, knowing you are fully trustworthy. Amen.

Scripture for Meditation

Psalm 131:2 – Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
Matthew 19:14 – But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Psalm 37:4 – Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 112:1 – Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.
Psalm 149:4 – For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.

The Lord your God is with you,

the Mighty Warrior who saves.

He will take great delight in you;

in His love He will no longer rebuke you,

but will rejoice over you with singing.
